Welcome to the 2008 Land Rover World Sheep Dog Trials, Food and Country Festival!
Dinefwr Park and Castle, Llandeilo, Carmarthenshire, Wales, provides an exceptional venue for this event. This 12th Century Welsh Castle and 18th Century landscape park is an iconic place in the history of Wales. A fitting setting for a World Championship event.
The Land Rover World Sheepdog Trials, Food and Country Festival runs over four days (September 11th-14th, 2008). With 242 sheep dogs and handlers competing from 22 different countries, the competition is going to be exciting. Competitors are coming from: the Czech Republic, South Africa, Faroes, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Finland, Italy, Canada, France, New Zealand, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Germany, Netherlands, England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and the USA! We welcome them all to Wales.
Qualifying rounds for the Land Rover World Sheep Dog Trial event take place on Thursday (11th) and Friday (12th) where the sheepdogs compete for a place in Saturday's semi-final. The top 42 dogs will run in the semi-finals, with the top sixteen sheepdog and handler pairings from the semi-final qualifying to compete in the Land Rover World Sheep Dog Trial Grand Final on Sunday (14th). You simply can't miss this grand finale!
The Land Rover World Sheepdog Trials, Food and Country Festival is a family event featuring not only the world's very best sheep dogs and sheep dog handlers, but also many other enjoyable attractions and demonstrations for young and old alike, including: falconry, equestrian stunt shows, sheepdog and duck displays, and Police dog, dog agility, flyball, gundog, and heel-work displays! Trade stands, promoting Welsh foods and crafts, and artisans from around the world complement the event.
With world class competition, plenty of exhibits and demonstrations, and the very best of Welsh hospitality, the 2008 Land Rover World Sheepdog Trials, Food and Country Festival promises to be a superb event - not to be missed!
